Camden, City, Islington & Westminster Bereavement Service (CCIWBS) is an independent registered charity, founded in 1969. For over 40 years, thousands of bereaved people, from all walks of life, have experienced the counselling support we provide.
Those who contact us may have experienced many different losses, in many different circumstances - a miscarriage or a still birth, the loss of a child, partner, lover, parent, friend, relation or colleague. The deaths may have been caused by illness, accident, suicide, murder or natural causes.
Grieving is a natural process and not everyone needs to seek counselling. However, in our modern world the old supports of family, friends and community are not always available or appropriate.
The service is available to anyone over 18. Counselling is free of charge to clients who are registered with a GP in either Camden or Islington. If you are registered with a GP in any other London borough, we ask you to make a contribution towards your counselling.
We offer a confidential service, open to anyone, regardless of age, sexuality, ethnic origin, culture or religion. In particular, we are committed to providing support to people who are not used to seeking help through counselling. Our clients have an opportunity to meet one to one with trained and supervised volunteer counsellors who will listen to their experience, give them time to talk and support them as they begin to live life again.
