We are committed to providing the highest quality counselling service to as many bereaved people as possible.
We have about 50 part-time counsellors who are working in a voluntary capacity to provide bereavement counselling to about 150 clients each week. Our counsellors are provided with in-house clinical supervision on a fortnightly basis.
Our service is headed by the Director and supported by 3 part-time paid staff who take client referrals, arrange client assessments and counselling sessions and provide administrative support for counsellors. We undertake some fundraising and ensure both clinical safety plus compliance with charity, legal and contractual requirements.
Each counselling hour costs on average £35 to provide. We receive no grant aid from Local of Central Government. Without donations we could not provide a service.
One third of our funding is provided by charitable trusts, individual donations (including client contributions) and fundraising. The remainder comes from service contracts agreed with local authorities and GP Commissioning Groups in 2 London boroughs. Counselling undertaken within our contracts is provided free of charge.
Some counselling is offered outside our contracts, particularly where more time is required. This is a low cost service for which we ask clients to make a contribution towards each session, although this may be waived in exceptional circumstances.
